Upon arrival at the Airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative who will brief you shortly about your RwandaSafari before transferring you to Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri which is a 3 hours drive from the city center. Upon arrival, you will check in into your lodge. If you have time, you may take an optional community tour around Ruhengeri for a good cultural experience of a true Rwandan culture (arrange with your guide). Dinner and overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (luxury) / Le Bambou Gorilla view lodge (mid range) / Muhabura hotel (budget)
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla tracking
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Park headquarters at around 7:00am for pre-tracking briefing from the ORTPN Ranger guides. After this, you will be accompanied by your ranger guide and start your trek into the forest to search for the endangered apes. You are reminded to bring with you packed lunch and bottled Mineral water since you are not sure of how long it may take you to find these gentle apes. In terms of equipment, trekking boots, long sleeved shirts and blouses, rain coats, and Cameras are highly recommended for the trek. The time you will spend in the forest searching for the Gorillas is not predictable as it depends on where they spend the last night. Once you come across the Gorillas, all the troubles you have gone through to reach them will die away and instead
utilise the1 hour you have with them to get a great experience. You can observe them as they play and feed as you take photographs. Return to the lodge for refreshments, dinner and overnight stay at (Day 1)
Day 3: Golden Monkey trekking / Dian Fosse’s grave and transfer to Akagera
After breakfast, you will go for the Golden Monkey trekking in the forested slopes of volcanoes. You will have some time looking for them and observing them as they play about in this light forest. Return to your lodge later for lunch, before transferring to Akagera national park for dinner and overnight stay at Akagera game lodge / Ruzizi tented lodge
Day 4: Game drive in Akagera and afternoon boat cruise on L. Ihema.
After breakfast, you will go for the morning break game drive to search for the large herds of game animals which the park is famous for and these include: Burchell’s Zebra, lions, elephants, topi, giraffes, impalas and over 425 species of birds including the rare shoe billed stock, African jacana, sacred ibis goliath heron. After lunch at the Lodge, you will go for the afternoon boat trip on the Lake Ihema to see the large number of hippos, the huge Nile crocodile and so many bird species. Retire in the evening to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at (Day 3)
Day 5: Game drive and transfer to Nyungwe Forest national park
After breakfast, head for the last game drive in the park and then transfer to Nyungwe with en route stops to see plantations and different local markets. You will reach Nyungwe in the afternoon and check in at Nyungwe Forest lodge /Nyungwe Top View lodge / Gisakura Guesthouse (budget).
Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking and afternoon canopy walk
After breakfast, you will head to the park head quarters for briefing and later storm the forest in search for the chimpanzees. It is not clear about how long it may take you and therefore packed lunch is highly advised. Where to find them depends on their movement as they search for food. Overnight at Nyungwe Top View lodge
Day 7: Colobus monkey tracking and transfer to L. Kivu
After breakfast, you will head for colobus monkey tracking. Nyungwe forest is known to shelter the largest troop of colobus monkeys. After seeing them, you will return to the lodge for lunch and later transfer to L. Kivu via Kibuye. Overnight at L. Kivu Serena / Paradise Malahide
Day 8: L. Kivu boat and transfer to Kigali
After a leisure breakfast, take a boat to explore Rwanda’s largest lake with a cluster of islands. Its scenic beaches will be a great spectacle for the day with beautiful views of the Virunga Mountains including Nyiragongo in Congo. Later transfer to Kigali for your departure flight or your guide will drop you at your hotel in Kigali
